So your attempting to get a new job? This is not as
easy as it sounds and your Resume plays a major part in
this.
If the job you are going for is not what you normally do
then you could ideally use a blank resume form free of any
information so you can edit this in a way that will be suitable
for the new job.
You can also get free printable resume which you can then
adopt and change the information within to suit your own needs,
these sorts of files usually come as Microsoft word documents
and you can usually download them and open them straight
up. You will need some good editing skills so you can
input your qualifications, skills and experiences on the blank
resume form free.
Ideally you want to download several blank resume forms and
compare each of the formats to see which is suitable for your
job application. The best thing about a blank resume form
is that you can revise the document in any order to suit your
individual needs for that specific job. There is no such
thing as a generic resume as you should be targeting your
resume to every single job that you apply for and this means
using various blank resume forms, free usually from various
places on the net.
It's a misconception that applying for jobs is easy, it
isn't! To build that ideal resume make sure that you use
the best resume template specific to the job you are applying
for and make sure your information is structured in an easy to
read fashion and keep it concise, don't waffle on there.
Remember your resume is basically about you in bullet points or
a snapshot, once at the interview you use your resume as a
talking point for points you wish to speak about to the
prospective employer. It's no good telling them
everything in a 25 page resume and then having nothing new to
say at the interview!
Keep your resume down to one to two pages maximum so it will
be easily readable and make sure your information is job target
specific i.e. don't put you had a job 10 years ago as a waiter
and discuss your responsibilities if your applying for a
managers position. You want to talk more about your last
job in detail rather then the one you had 10 years ago.
Whilst your attempting to find your ideal job, one of the
best tools I have found is a free printable resume that can
come in a blank resume form free of any information.
You can also get sample resumes for the job you are hunting
for to see if they compare with the information that you have
on your resume. The whole job of the resume is to get you
to the interview and then develop talking points at the
interview, the resume DOES NOT get you the job, you get the job
with help from your resume.
It's more like a partnership and you both need to look and
sound professional to get the job of your dreams.
